Clarity, Apples, Autumn and Feist!

It is the most wonderful time of the year ladies and gentlemen! It is the start of the Ithaca's Applefest. If you have never experienced this wonderful celebration of all things apple, then you are not starting your autumn off right and you are not a human being. Applefest is such a treat for us Ithacans. I cannot wait to have some hard apple cider, a pumpkin doughboy and get a huge bag of apples. Ah! I'm so excited. Pictures to come!

Applefest could not have come at a better time than right now. Sometimes I lose myself while I am at school and the past week has been one of these times. I need a big pie of clarity for my mind and get myself back to center. I have always believed that college can sometimes skew the person you really are based on stereotypes, constantly being around people, all while trying to find out what the hell you are going to do with yourself. Thank god for autumn and its renewing capabilities on me.

I know it'll need to go from good to worse
Living in the past begins the ending first
All I want is a horizon line
Get some clarity following signs
I'll keep on the path that leads up to the clearing
Keep some distance while the words comes in so near

A Type.

Do you have "a type"? You know, that long list of qualities that your significant other needs to have for you to even look at them. Or maybe it is just simple qualities like wears flannels, sometimes likes beanies, and has great facial hair that gets a little damp with coffee each morning. Oh and has a belly chuckling laugh and spends a significant amount of his paycheck on concert tickets. Obviously, I have a type. But is having a type silly? Is it even true? I know for me, at least, I have yet to find my type. Does anyone find it? Or do we change our types to fit the people we meet? Or do our types just change?

Too many questions?

Tea Time.

Every night my roommate/best friend, Melly, and I have what we old ladies like to call: tea time. We will look at each other and nod and then one of us will get the kettle on the stove while the other collects the tea and the mugs (I have my "Tea Time" mug from Pottery Barn and Melly has her adorable Alice in Wonderland mug). We then will take our tea to go in one of our rooms or, if the night is right, outside on our porch or to our neighbors house. If I had to name a favorite part of my day, tea time with Melly would be it.

Tonight, we came across this adorable illustration of Why Tea Is So Very Magical and quickly fell in love with it. My favorite reason is "it fills your stomach when you're so sad that you can't consume anything else." Melly's favorite reason is "most cultures have some form of tea --> some people read their tea leaves --> fortunes!"

What is your favorite?

Rainy Day.

“She looks into me, the unknowing heart to see if I love. She has confidence she forgets under the clouds of her eyelids. Her head falls asleep in my hands where are we. Together inseparable. Alive, alive. He alive, she alive and my head rolls through her dreams.”
- Paul Eluard (She Looks Into Me)

Happy Day.

Hi. I hope you all have a good day. You should find a porch to sit on and drink some coffee and sing some Cat Power. When it gets cooler at night and the sun is getting a little sleepy but not too sleepy, you should go for a walk, too. Yeah, you should go do that. Maybe there will be a cute little boy sitting on a wooden fence that will want to talk to you.

Happy Day!

Monday.

Happy Monday! My stuffy nose can definitely tell you that fall is coming. As the weather gets colder and colder, it can be hard to get out of bed so here are some things to hopefully make your Monday a little less-Mondaylike.

I'm in love with the band Team Me and the track "Me and the Mountain", which is featured in the trailer for Liberal Arts.

Last night, Flying Lotus released an unfinished remix of Frank Ocean's "Think About You."

Master the shortbread

I need my puppy already because I know he wants to go on walks with me.

Some good motivation via soul surfer

Give me a cup of coffee, a cozy sweater, and a mountain view from a deck.

FALL.

Can you smell it? The crisp morning traveling around the leaves and straight to your nose. The smell of the pumpkin coffee in the morning and the pumpkin beer at night. The smell of Ithaca Applefest. I can. My nose has been trained to begin smelling Fall on September 1 (the day I tell Mother Nature to give up on summer.)

Fall is by far my favorite season and I am already wearing sweaters and slippers outside on the porch with my hands hugging a warm mug. If only it was the end of October and all the leaves have changed and I had my entire fall closet out. Ugh, I just cannot wait anymore!

What is your favorite thing about Fall?

I'll start...

I love my Fall playlist. (Which will be posted soon)
